About Katie
Katie Spataro (she/her) is a somatic sex educator, holistic pelvic care provider and full spectrum doula residing on the unceded lands of the Duwamish people otherwise known as Seattle. Katie studies and practices at the intersections of birth work and sex work, drawing upon the embodied wisdom of these two lineages to support healing of the personal and collective cultural body.
Katie blends various modalities of somatic practice, bodywork and skilled coaching in her private practice, and facilitates classes on sexual and reproductive wellness, embodied consent, grief and loss, pregnancy and birth, and erotic education through a trauma-informed and healing-centered lens.
Katie currently services as core faculty at the Institute for the Study of Somatic Sex Education and as adjunct faculty at Antioch University's Sex Therapy Certificate Program.
About Sacred Womb
Sacred Womb Services grew out of deep inquiry and exploration in the healing arts, and through my own healing journey as a woman. My experience with pregnancy loss in 2006, followed by the birth of my son three years later, allowed me to delve deep into the grief and joy contained within my womb. It was during my second pregnancy that I was introduced to ancestral healing by way of a profound dream which both exposed the wounding I carried within my womb on a individual level as well as through my lineage, and offered ripe grounds for transformation.
Since that time I have been fascinated by the healing potential of non-ordinary states, exploring these ecstatic realms through practices such as breathwork, plant medicines, and drumming. Over the last 20 years I have also studied and practiced various forms of dance and yoga, exploring ways in which the body is a channel for the divine.
I live in community in South Seattle along with my twelve-year old son and I can usually be found squatting in my garden, walking the forest at Seward Park, or getting down on the dance floor.
